Inspired by Celtic mythology, Lonagáin is a world filled with magic and adventure. Heroes fill stories of romanticism and daring exploits. The setting is run by Pathfinder 2e and regular lore will be brought to you by Andol, File, Karama, and Nuri as they gain experience and explore the world.
Magic can be said to be in the very veins of Lonagáin. Leylines criss-cross the world, seeping into every rock, tree, and living thing upon its face. What does this mean mechanically? From The Secrects of Magic book by Paizo, Lonagáin use the Leyline and Pervasive Magic.
A major fixture in the history of Lonagáin is the Slania Empire named after its first High King Slaine Mac Dela, a Nemedian. Having lasted over 15,000 years Slania would expand across every continent as they drove off Fomorii back to the seas. The years of prosperity would drive the High Kings to become complacent and unprepared for the worse when it would happen.
Murias and its sage Semias would fall to darkness and betray the empire. Becoming a lich, Semias plunged Murias and a large swathe of land into a massive swampy peat bog. In a series of engagements against the lich, Slania attempted to at least regain the lost treasure as to continue the tradition of choosing high kings. However, they would instead end up losing their last king without a line of succession in place in case of the failure. This lead to a line of regent kings that held power in process, but not in title or spirit.
Without the high king, nations propped up around Slania seceding from the empire. Now its a shadow of its former glory.
Aeons Ago: There was no world, there was but land and sea. As the land met the sea, sea-foam was created and from it a white mare was born. This mare was called Eiocha and from her the other gods and goddesses were born. They would have many conflicts and creations, but their greatest were the races of Lonagáin: dwarves, elves, gnomes, halflings, humans, orcs, and the many other sapient creatures that call Lonagáin home. Eiocha retires from the land and returns to the sea becoming Tethra.
100,000 years ago: The land was torn asunder by Cailleach and the first hags. The Lonagáin supercontinent is broken into several plates and set adrift on the earthen sea below the land and waves.
50,000 years ago: Tethra is corrupted and creates the Fomorrii, mutant titans from below the waves. Fomorii invasion slowly takes over the known world. They enslave the people of Lonagáin and force their rules to pay high taxes to feed their own greed.
20,000 years ago: Four great sages begin crafting legendary artifacts. The Spear of Lugh, The Sword of Light, the Endless Cauldron, and the Stone of Destiny.
19,500 years ago: the first High King is chosen in one of the sons of Dela, the last of the Nemedian Elves. That king was Slaine Mac Dela. He leads a campaign against the Fomorii and pushes their evil back to the seas. Orcs defect during this conflict, becoming a great ally to the people of Lonagáin.
15,000 years ago: the four cities of the sages are founded: Falias, Gorias, Murias, and Findias. Falias home of the Stone of Destiny becomes the capital of the Slania Empire (Slania named for the first High King).
2,000 years ago: a great corruption once again plagues Lonagáin taking the city of Murias into a great peat swamp filled with undead. The treasure of Murias, the Endless Cauldron is lost.
1,500 years ago: the Last High King Finsnechta, a descendant of Slaine, leads a campaign to reclaim the lost treasure of Murias. He becomes horrifically wounded by the Lich Sage of Murias.
1,250 years ago: Finsnechta last High King of the Slania Empire dies, and so begins the reign of the regent Kings with Rudraige I, his son.
1,000 years ago: Pinvidic secedes from the Slania Empire. Creating the first Secession War. During the conflict Shanwei also secedes and joins Pinvidic in the fight. After the war ends Slania recognizes their independence.
500 years ago: Aiole and Catabar secede from Slania simultaneously. Under threat of joining the war by Pinvidic and Shanwei, war is evaded this time.
250 years ago: Iarlugh secedes. Slania forces invade and create the second Secession War. The war ends with the death of Taruos II.
Triple deities are quite common place in they represent the gambit of alignments that worship them. Those who worship one or multiple aspects of a triple deity are greatly varied. Choosing these deities generally means one leans towards neutral alignments, but there are no restrictions for a follower of these kinds of gods.
Tuatha De, or people of, are people that follow the deity Danu or Toutatis. These deities are in particular very malleable to the villages they are worshipped in. More concept than full deity, they are listed with a certain list of domains, however they have another option (signified by the * in the chart above) their followers can choose. After they pick this domain, they cannot choose another one outside of the domains listed in the deity's domains.
