The burgeoning city of Feldspar was created utilizing the game Ex Novo "a city-building game to generate playable settlements for use in other creative endeavors." Sitting down the great spirits (CidZAER, Diarmuid, Prinny, and the Great Var) helped guide the events that forged the realm.
The great minotaur merchant explorer Sydor and his family set out south of the capital city and settled south of the Garnet river, Naming it after the minerals found in its waters. Establishing the trade colony in the name of his mother and guild matron Helness, Sydor of the Horn of Plenty established the government akin to the Guild's bylaws. Laws were set in place for communal voting as the best interest of the colony was the interests of her people, those allowed to vote were land owning matrons or their surviving widowers.
The colony was a united front under the Horn of Plenty and they built a base of operations out of the primary store front. Colloquially the building was called the HoP.
Quickly it became apparent the neighboring forest held an indigenous people. Initial interaction with the elves of the forest seemed cordial, but their presence would soon become a threat to the people of Feldspar.
Feldspar contains a diverse range of features, some discov-ered when Sydor founded the region and others after the fact.
When the elves began suring up their forest's defenses, so to did the minotaurs build Bull's Horn Keep. The primary garrison where they trained recruits, Bull's Horn would quickly churn out soldiers for the upcoming war.
Deep in its halls an elite soldier would also be created. Echo knights of the Garnet Bellows would become the backbone of the army and the sacrifice of one Iaskia Singlehorn would prevent the elves from taking more ground.
The Commander of Feldspars forces is currently the daughter of Isaskia, Ireta. She is a brave warrior, but runs a tight ship of the forces. She has to with the tentative peace at her borders.
By far the most dangerous region of Feldspar, the Devil's Sieve is home to a hive of ankhegs. When the minotaurs first settled the region, this area was so named for its danger as well as the flow of the river that fed into its many cave like burrow tubes.
After the Utter of Salvation rose from the ground and diverted the river, the ankhegs became irate and more embolden to travel from their holes.
A defensive district was built to account for the influx in activity from the creatures. It was a concerted effort to protect the city of Feldspar, those not serving at the Bull's Horn Keep typically served a stent next to the Devil's Sieve.
A magical forest sitting next to Feldspar, Elfree is home to a tribe of elves. Intune with the tribe, Elfree seemed to mold and move at their whimsy. Elfree was a difficult terrain for the minotaurs to traverse.
Initially, the elves were on good terms with the minotaur of Feldspar, freely trading with their neighbors and keeping to themselves. After a change in leadership of both the elves and minotaur, the elves started shoring up their own defenses. They thickened the growth of the forest and equipped their warriors, and soon after there was war. This would turn the founding district of Feldspar into the Mournlands.
The current leader of the elves is a brash warrior chief named Onvyr Herberos. Under his leadership the elves destroyed land to be known as the Mournlands and occupied the Old HoP building
Built out of the windfall from the Garnet Sluice and utilizing much of the garnet stones from the landmark and the mountains, this garnet palace was built to house Sydor's descendants and host dignitaries from afar. The most striking feature is the gate of palace, with a keystone made from a massive garnet crystal shaped like a bull's skull. This feature makes guests second guess whether or not to enter the palace grounds. The Garnet Hall is a masterpiece of minotaur architecture.
The current matron of the palace is Seodera.
The stone to the Devil's Sieve's hard place. The two features led as a funnel to the founding location of Feldspar. The Garnet Mountains is a small range of mountains at the city's north western border.
The Garnet Mountains are so named for the plethora of garnet gemstones found within its depths. During the spring equinox at sunset when the light hits the mountain peaks, it bathes the city in a red, green, and yellow lights signifying the start of the growing season.
These mountains certainly hold great mineral and gemstone riches, but it is also infested with a strange breed of rust monsters. The Feldspathoid rust monster is an oddity among its kin. More docile than regular versions they appear to have small-er antennae, but a minotaur named Bronzehoof learned first hand that these rust monsters were as strong as mules, falling to his doom in the caverns of the Garnet Mountains.
Initially panned for feldspar and other minerals closer to the founding district, the Garnet River was named after the gems found in its water further up stream.
When the city was first founded the Garnet River flowed into Devil's Sieve making the river only a resource for gathering gems and minerals. But fate saw fit to bless the city of Feldspar, a great mass of earth rose from the ground and diverted the river from the sieve and pushed it further east.
Formed on the Garnet River the sluice was initially created to make the river's water more potable to Feldspar's citizens. From here, the Sluice quickly discovers a resource hidden among the refuse, river polished garnet stones. This newly found treasure was a great boon to the trade group Horn of Plenty.
The sluice to this day continues to filter the river waters, and is in the hands of Bjormarin Mudhorn and his family. His wife Moodera being a prominent figure in Feldspar's Horn of Plenty group.
The Hornlands is one of Feldspar's oddly proudest districts, and also its most populated. Much of the area is a red light dis-trict under the control of a minotaur named Mitera. A stern and protective mistress, Mitera has at the very least made the district safe for people in that kind of work. Her network of warrior turned bouncers makes sure the prostitutes are treated well.
The Hornlands also boasts other appeals, after the war be-tween the elves, the neighboring district flooded the Hornlands. This brought the merchant and trade industry into the Hornlands, pushing the development of infrastructure and other amenities broadening the appeal of moving to the Hornlands.
Once a treasured district brimming with young merchants and traders, the Mournlands is a hollowed husk of its former self. A victim of the elven-minotaur war, the Mournlands saw most of the action and, though they fought the elves to a stand still, they lost the HoP and the district was littered with the dead.
In the treatise with the elves, the Mournlands would remain depopulated save for a grave-keeper and the minotaur would be allowed to bury the dead from the war and newly dead in the area making the Mournlands two square kilometre sized graveyard. The appointed grounds keeper of the graves is currently Zamnarak Steadyhoof.
The HoP has seen several iterations since Feldspar's founding. Initially created as a general shopping area for multiple different traders, the primary store front was humble and emblazoned with the Horn of Plenty initials on its sign.
After the discovery of the garnets in the sluice, the building was rebuilt and turned into a government and trade building shutting out smaller businesses to the district around it. Taking down the HoP sign, many saw this as a way of discouraging voices from the other businesses.
After the war, the elves held onto the HoP as a forward base of operations to ensure the minotaurs held to the treaty and left the Mournlands depopulated.
Unfortunately there is no one minotaur named Rusty, rather it is a collective of farms that raise Feldspatoid rust monsters. Fed a variety of old scrap metal, the creatures are content to till the minotaur fields. It is quite handy as the creatures fill a niche without taking away from the grain reserves.
A large sect of the clerics of Bel, the Laughing Cow, sees the rust monsters as fleas of Bel and gifts needed to be harnessed. This sees a lot of her clerics retiring to the ranch or working the ranch alongside their clerical duties.
Long held faith in this deity dates back before Daleko annexed. Bel embodies the minotaurs' amicable humors and love of life. Her domains are Life and Trickery, as many of her followers are known for their practical jokes and charms, but still a vibrant font of life.
In the minotaurs' religion Bel is married to Angus, the Bull of Protection. Angus is worshiped by many of the druids and warriors of their people. His domains are Nature and War.
Long after the founding of Feldspar, a temple was founded and a district of religious followers bloomed. Many attribute this exodus to the Utter of Salvation holy site the clerics call a gift from Bel. The current high priestess of the temple is Weodane Truthfighter and she commands a full score of priestesses and clerics.
The Udder of Salvation is a massive hill that formed after the city was founded. It rose from the ground with four stony spires on its peak. The Udder diverted the waters of the Garnet River and increased its value to the people of Feldspar.
The cause of the hill is debated by scholars. Some think that a large earth elemental moved in the underdark below the area. Others argue that its a natural formation. Whatever the causes, the clerics of Bel call it a gift from the goddess seeing an udder in the hills odd formation.
The Horn of Plenty is a traders and merchants guild from Ornamentis that has a fair presence all over Daleko. They primarily trade in produce and raw goods. The guild is primarily populated by minotaur, but many demi-humans and humans also count themselves as members of this guild.
Prefering to deal in raw goods keeps overall costs low. Gathering and transportation is their primary means, the guild boasts a wide variety of boats and carts to transport goods all over Daleko. Their furthest operation, adjacent to the Garnet Mountains, is Feldspar. The city has a booming mineral and farming operation.
However, due to recent events, the Horn of Plenty spent much of its resources protecting the operation. Rumors are starting to spread that the current head of the Horn of Plenty is looking to sell off assets to cover its debt from a drawn out conflict with an indigenous population. Intravight is looking at capturing these very same resources to expand their own operations around Dawurld.
